I was looking for an inexpensive laptop cooler and saw that Amazon.com had this one as the cheapest. Well, you definitely get what you pay for. Of the other Laptop coolers I’ve owned (ranging from “generic” ones like these to the Vantec-brand ones), this one’s got what I needed, except for the fact that the fans don’t draw the air but blows it instead! I can probably just switch the way the fans are setup (flip them over so they draw the hot air from the bottom of my laptop) or I can even just ask for an exchange but that’d be too much trouble.
Pros:
- Price
- Gets the job done (if you don’t have a defective product)
- USB powered
- good fan grill construction (the Vantec cooler pad’s grill actually bites the fan if you have a heavy laptop and you’re resting it on your lap)
- Silent fan (or at least tolerable, not so noticeable dB level)
Cons:
- Rubber feet on top is more like a cushion, i.e., it compresses. Not good if you want your laptop to be slightly angled for the fans to work correctly
- Needs more quality control?
What I’d improve: change the feet on top so that laptop doesn’t ‘kiss’ the base so that there’s ‘room’ for the fans to do their magic; have the adapter-end of the USB cord (the one that attaches to the cooler pad) to be angled — it’s just an asthetic thing, so the cord isn’t sticking out.

I bought one of these with my laptop since I wanted to be careful about keeping it cool, but it’s been nothing but a giant pain.
- First, it’s advertised to fit laptops “up to 17 inches” but is, in fact, about 13 inches on the diagonal. To get my 16.4″ laptop on it is a careful balancing act to make sure that all of the raised bumps on the bottom of the computer and the top of the pad line up. Usually it’s lopsided.
- It’s loud. It’s advertised at 20 dB, but it’s clearly audible from a good ways away.
- The worst part is that it lasted about a month. It’s made of thin plastic, and after the laptop sitting on top of it for a period of time, it started to bend, which led to the fans tilting slightly downward, which led to the blades hitting the bottom of the enclosure, which led to a jarring noise.
So, while it does technically still work, in practice it became unusable after about 4 weeks. So, unless you only need a cooling pad for that long, then you should probably look elsewhere. But, on the upside, at least it’s inexpensive.

I bought this one because I got a good deal and reviewers in that website gave some positive feedbacks about this iterm. It doesnot make me dissapointed. My laptop is quite hot sometimes and it does a good job and is quiet. And the inland customer service is quite nice. If you are looking for just a cooler, this iterm should be good choice.

This is a great cooler! pretty quit and would recommend it to anyone. My only problem and the reason for the 3* is that is arrived cracked. I am not bothering with a return as it works great and I don’t want to take the time to return the time. My laptop loves it to much! I can’t do that to her!! Great price!!

Considering the price I didn’t expect the product to be so effective, but sure enough it has helped my computer run faster!
