What laptop cooling options are there that aren’t cooling pads (which don’t work)?

I just graduated college and now am using my laptop through an external monitor as a desktop more often. Because it uses up my gpu is heats up just a wee bit more (10C more note the sarcasm) and gets pretty warm. For my old dell i used to just put a small portable fan under it that i had in my room and it would work nicely and drop temperatures way down but obviously that is not a nice solution. any tips. Also is that bad to place an actual fan under the laptop and have it cool it for u?

No.. a fan under your laptop is not bad for it.. Cooling is good for a laptop. They make laptop coolers that you place your laptop on top of. They have 1 or 2 fans that blow air up to the bottom of your computer. You should get one that has a fan located directly below your laptops air intake, where it sucks up the air. This will provide optimal cooling. I would stay away from the single fan units with the fan in the middle, unless of course that is where your intake is.
