The best bang-for-the-buck?? I was able to keep a laptop with an almost automatic overheating feature going with blue ice packets under a towel under the laptop. No other method worked for me to keep it cooled long enough to run a recovery disk operation on the laptop. This cooling set-up is good enough to overcome obvious internal cooling problems

I have used “Chill Pad”. I think it helped. Not 100% sure as I was using it with a laptop that didn’t overheat. The bottom did seem cooler. So, it was probably a plus.
